A new nursery to replace a rotten, unsafe and highly impractical building for the deeply underprivileged Burmese migrant kids of the area.
We broke ground on this project in August 2021 and officially signed off the completed building on November 17th 2021, the kids will be in by December.
A safe, happy and fun environment for children to learn and play for decades to come.
Doubling the size of an existing block and wooden shack. We salvaged the existing walls and plastered them, whilst creating a steel frame that can support a larger weather proof roof that will make it water tight and stop the rain that always poured through in the past.
We have incorporated the play area into the design and created a series of internal spaces that are bright and engaging. The space will support around 25 preschool children that will go on to a primary school designed and built a decade ago and is still going strong and very well maintained.
The idea being that the new lightweight frame elements can be taken away off site if the need arises and reconfigured to multiple arrangements to meet any new site constraints
The school is made up of a mix on Mon, Hmong and Karen ethic Burmese groups and is supported by the BMWEC (Burmese migrant workers education committee) with qualified teachers that are working toward the Thai curriculum.
