ACCURO FIDUCIARY GIRLS EMPOWERMENT PROGRAM, NEPAL.

 1. What is the relationship between Kanallan and Changa? Do you have any documents evidencing this?

It would be a similar relationship to that of our partnership with JCYCN.  Kanallan controls the overall concept of the activities/program, but utilising feedback and guidance from the local level.

Changa under Kanallan and JCYCN guidance will facilitate this program on the ground using its already highly trusted and well developed network of child clubs.

If funding is agreed from Accuro then we will draw up documents explaining the relationship between Kanallan and Changa to be signed by all.

As a side note, child clubs are a very important part of the education of children in rural areas who often lack the guidance of parents or elder family members. The vast majority of child club leaders are boys, this is something we wish to address with this program and aim for a 50/50 balance of girls to boys in leadership.

2. Why the change of course now, part-way through the program?

Throughout this unusual year we have adapted the program to ensure maximum impact and connection between the girls and the team, many of whom are locked down in rural villages.

A big part of this was moving many programs online, as a result we are not renting community spaces, providing food and refreshments for workshops and less in-person self defence classes etc. This saw a reduction in overall project costs.

In order to maximise impact within the allocated budget we looked at ways to help as many girls as possible. Taking our work into more remote areas is something we have always planned on, assuming the program was a success, which it very much has been.

It’s our suggestion that we use the remaining 28k of this year’s budget to train up teams across the entire country to pass on our experience and methods of empowering young women and offering support to vulnerable girls.

This will be a one off expense, but we will remain in contact with these teams and the young women going forward with our overall program. We will provide full reports on the impact, budget and developments of this new aspect of the girls empowerment program.

Nepal is opening up again now, meaning year 4 of our program will be much more inline with previous years with more offline activities and meetings.

3. Aside from the Changa website, I have not been able to find much info on the net. Are you able to forward any documentation attesting to the foundation’s registration as NGO, links to UNICEF, audited reports etc?

The links below are to two PDFs. The first is an agreement for a successful program funded by UNICEF and facilitated by Changa, the second PDF is an annual report from this same program. Further agreements can be provided.

UNICEF - CHANGA ANNUAL PROJECT REPORT

Our main project facilitator and founder of Changa is Mr Rajesh Sharma, he has worked as a high level government adviser in the past and is also a senior journalist regularly writing on girls/women's issues in online media.

He has covered our activities in the past and is in a good position to help lobby the government for girls rights in these remote areas. Many of the staff and volunteers of Changa have come from child clubs originally.

Below are the official NGO registration documents , renewals, and affiliations with with the Social Welfare Council of Nepal.
